By-Law and Enforcement Services - Vital Services - No Heat, Water, Hot Water and Electricity
The City of Brampton will investigate the absence of vital services. Vital services include heat, water, hot water, and electricity in a rented or leased unit. If you are making a report in a rented or leased unit it must be reported to your landlord/property management first. If there is no action, then the City will investigate. It is your responsibility to remain safe, if you are unable to stay in your current residence contact the Region of Peel’s Human Services Department at 905-791-7800 for further assistance
Important Information:
- Between September 22 to June 1st heat must be provided at a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit)
- Adequate and suitable supply of hot water is required to be continuous and uninterrupted supply of portable water that Is sufficient for normal use within the;

- Laundry
- Bathroom Facilities
- This water must be in supply at ordinary times;
- At a temperature of at least 49 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit)
- In a quantity of at least 165 litres (36 gallons)
- For a duration of 15 minutes with a minimum recovery rate for the temperature of 45 litres (10 gallons) per hour.
